For many years, our children from Kids Camp Bilingual Primary School in Königstein have visited the neighboring Kursana retirement home during the festive season. On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, over 100 preschool and primary school children gathered on Kursana’s beautifully decorated outdoor terrace for the traditional Advent singing event, filling the air with Christmas songs and poems to bring joy to the senior citizens.
As the lively group of children gathered outdoors despite the current colds season, the residents, along with the Kursana staff, attentively enjoyed the Christmas presentations from balconies and windows.
Following a brief welcome from Principal Mrs. Julia Salbert, the preschool children charmed everyone with the familiar song “Schneeflöckchen, Weissröckchen,” effortlessly inspiring the audience to join in. Subsequently, the second-graders presented a delightful poetry recital titled “Weihnachtssterne hab ich gern” and performed the song “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
The third-grade class presented the poem “Deutsch ist schwer” by Mira Lobe. The fourth-grade students accompanied their presentation of the ballad “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe with the Pied Piper’s flute music. Following this, also the fourth-grade students, in line with the bilingual focus of Kids Camp, performed the playful song “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
To conclude the event, all primary school children, with the accompaniment of their music teacher Joachim Gutmann on the guitar, sang the traditional song “Oh Tannenbaum.” A number of residents happily joined in, proving that learning is a lifelong joy!
To conclude, the Christmas posters prepared by the children featuring the poetry recitals, the North and South Poles, and their residents – polar bears and penguins – were handed over as a present for the Kursana residents. The applause following each performance was a rewarding acknowledgment of the children’s dedication.
As a token of gratitude, Kursana had a sweet treat ready for all the students, warmly received with gleaming eyes. The shared time between the young and old will undoubtedly be cherished by everyone as a delightful memory.

A week ago, our school Kids Camp hosted its Open house! Not only is this major event a great way for interested parents to be introduced to our concept, a bilingual education program that provides the children with a unique learning environment, but it is also a fantastic experience for the children at our school to show you (and their parents!) what they’ve learnt and the projects they’ve proudly worked on in the last months.
