Kids Camp Students Read Over 60,000 Minutes in May
Kids Camp Achieves Over 60,000 Minutes of Reading in May!
We are thrilled to share a wonderful achievement from the students of Kids Camp Bilingual School: a total of 60,441 minutes of reading were recorded during the Reading Month of May!
This milestone reflects the enthusiasm and commitment of our students in Grades 1 to 4, who embraced books with joy and curiosity throughout the month. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the teachers and families who supported and encouraged the children every step of the way.
At Kids Camp, we believe reading is the foundation of learning. This success motivates us to keep nurturing a culture of literacy, imagination, and discovery.
Let’s continue reading, learning, and growing together!
May is our special Reading Month! We have already enjoyed many fun reading activities at school.
We started the month with a Kick-Off in the school library, where children made their own bookmarks. We also had a fun dress-up day where kids came dressed as underwater characters. Classes took part in an exciting sea treasure hunt, and children read together in reading pairs.
More great activities are still coming! We look forward to our “Book-nic” (a picnic with books), a visit from children’s author Armin Pongs, cuddly toy reading time, and a big reading competition at the end of the month.
Reading Month is full of fun and a great way to enjoy books together!

Math Month March 2025 – Math Was Everywhere
In March, students calculated, explored, sorted, reflected and were amazed. Once again Math Month brought a wide range of ideas that proved mathematics is everywhere.
Whether through early morning Sudokus, timed mandala challenges or hands-on logic tasks. Students encountered mathematics at Kids Camp in completely new ways. It had little to do with textbooks and quiet worksheets and everything to do with curiosity, movement, discovery and play.
The weekly puzzle challenges attracted particular attention. They encouraged students to observe carefully, think logically and develop creative strategies. Those who submitted correct answers were rewarded with a small surprise. A meaningful recognition of focus and persistence.
Digital tools also played a key role this year. Interactive math games on the smartboard and engaging Kahoot quizzes allowed students to deepen their knowledge playfully while experiencing math in a modern and collaborative setting.
On March 20 things got colorful. During the Math Dress Up Day students arrived in clothing with geometric patterns or dressed as famous mathematicians. That same day Grades 3 and 4 took part in the Kangaroo Math Competition demonstrating their skills with enthusiasm and precision.
Math Month at Kids Camp was once again a great success. Vibrant diverse and inspiring. Mathematics became visible tangible and truly alive.
For many years, our children from Kids Camp Bilingual Primary School in Königstein have visited the neighboring Kursana retirement home during the festive season. On Wednesday, December 13, 2023, over 100 preschool and primary school children gathered on Kursana’s beautifully decorated outdoor terrace for the traditional Advent singing event, filling the air with Christmas songs and poems to bring joy to the senior citizens.
As the lively group of children gathered outdoors despite the current colds season, the residents, along with the Kursana staff, attentively enjoyed the Christmas presentations from balconies and windows.
Following a brief welcome from Principal Mrs. Julia Salbert, the preschool children charmed everyone with the familiar song “Schneeflöckchen, Weissröckchen,” effortlessly inspiring the audience to join in. Subsequently, the second-graders presented a delightful poetry recital titled “Weihnachtssterne hab ich gern” and performed the song “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
The third-grade class presented the poem “Deutsch ist schwer” by Mira Lobe. The fourth-grade students accompanied their presentation of the ballad “The Pied Piper of Hamelin” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe with the Pied Piper’s flute music. Following this, also the fourth-grade students, in line with the bilingual focus of Kids Camp, performed the playful song “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
To conclude the event, all primary school children, with the accompaniment of their music teacher Joachim Gutmann on the guitar, sang the traditional song “Oh Tannenbaum.” A number of residents happily joined in, proving that learning is a lifelong joy!
To conclude, the Christmas posters prepared by the children featuring the poetry recitals, the North and South Poles, and their residents – polar bears and penguins – were handed over as a present for the Kursana residents. The applause following each performance was a rewarding acknowledgment of the children’s dedication.
As a token of gratitude, Kursana had a sweet treat ready for all the students, warmly received with gleaming eyes. The shared time between the young and old will undoubtedly be cherished by everyone as a delightful memory.
